Georgetown é um bairro charmoso em Washington D.C, cercado por casinhas de tijolos, boutiques, restaurantes e a atração principal do bairro, a Georgetown University. Quem for fazer uma visitinha a Washington D.C, tem que separar um dia pra passear nesse bairro encantador. As ruas principais, a M Street e a Wisconson Avenue, são as mais movimentadas.

Kafe Leopold

Quem procura um brunch nos finais de semana (o famoso café da manhã servido até o horário do almoço) ou gostam da gastronomia alemã, podem conferir o Kafe Leopold. Dentro de um beco cheio de lojinhas, encontra-se um restaurante com dois ambientes. Se o dia tiver agradável, sentam lá fora.

il Canele

Para os fãs da comida italiana, o restaurante il Canele serve um comidinha “comfort”.  Pizza, massa e o foccacia são as principais atrações e de sobremesa, o imperdível Panna Cotta de coco com calda de chocolate.

Como toda boa cidade americana, Georgetown também incorpora as marcas nacionais e internacionais como Anthropologie, Crate and Barrel, Gap, Nike, Banana Republic, Juicy Couture, Coach, Michael Kors, Zara, Diesel e mais alguns. Encontra-se um pouco de tudo por lá.

Georgetown Cupcakes: as portas dessa confeitaria de cupcakes abrem as 10 da manhã, e podem garantir que vão ficar na fila para provar esses famosos bolinhos doces. Não se assustem com o tamanho da fila, pois ela anda rápido e quando entrar vale muito a pena a experiência. Georgetown Cupcakes foi fundado por duas irmãs que trabalhavam no mundo da moda, mas em vez, decidiram ir atrás dos sonhos de abrir uma confeitaria. Posso dizer, como fã oficial de doces, que esses cupcakes foram um dos melhores que já provei em toda minha vida. E acima de tudo, todos os dias tem um sabor novo e para os alérgicos ao glúten, tem o bolinho sem glúten e os bolinhos sem ovos e sem leite para os vegetarianos (podem pedir, pois também é uma delícia!).

Fleurir: é um estabelecimento pequeno de chocolates gourmet. Eles vendem chocolates com pimenta, lavanda e outros sabores excêntricos. Podem degustar!

Dolcezza: um cantinho só de gelato artesanal com sabores diferenciados como leite de coco tailandês, canela e chocolate amargo da Valrhona. Os sabores são exóticos e únicos.

Pie Sisters: pra quem adora uma torta, achamos o lugar pra você! Só servem tortas salgadas e doces. Não consegui provar, mas fotografei e deu muita água na boca.

Onde Visitar:

Old Stone House: é a casa mais antiga de Washington aonde existe um quarto mobiliado ainda no estilo colonial. Assim os turistas podem conhecer um pouco de como era a vida naquela época. A entrada é gratuita e tem um jardim charmoso atrás da casa aberto ao público.

Georgetown Waterfront Park: o parque de Georgetown é uma ótima opção para passear, andar de bicicleta e apreciar a vista do Potomac River.

Georgetown University: e claro, quem estiver na cidade, não pode de deixar de conhecer o campus mais charmoso de Washington. Existe uma capela linda também na parte sudeste do campus.

Georgetown is one of Washington DC’s most charming neighborhoods, surrounded by brownstones, small shops, bars, and restaurants, but the main attraction is Georgetown University located at its heart.  For those who plan to visit Washington DC, a day trip must be planned to Georgetown. M Street and Wisconsin Avenue are the main streets were everything happens.

Where to eat:

Kafe Leopold: For those who enjoy a weekend brunch or appreciate the German culinary, Kafe Leopold is the perfect spot. Located inside an alley filled with little shops, this restaurant has two ambiances. If the weather allows, make sure you find an outdoor table.

il Canale: Italian food fans are going to like this restaurant where the main attraction is comfort food. Pizza, pasta, and focaccias are the best options as entrees and for dessert, the coconut panna cotta with chocolate sauce is a must have!

Like every classic American city, Georgetown carries both national and international brands like Anthropologie, Crate and Barrel, Gap, Nike, Banana Republic, Juicy Couture, Coach, Michael Kors, Zara, Diesel, and many more.

Delicious Snacks:

Georgetown Cupcakes: this small town bakery opens around 10am, but a line will be quickly formed on the outside. Nothing to be intimidated by, this line moves quickly and it will be well worth it. Georgetown Cupcakes were founded by two sisters whom used to work in the fashion industry and now fulfilled a lifetime dream of opening a cupcake business. As a real fan of sweets, I can definitely say that these were one of the best cupcakes I have tried lately. Georgetown Cupcakes also have gluten-free and vegan flavors to accommodate all allergies and preferences. I have tried the vegan cupcakes and they are amazing. And to top it off, everyday Georgetown Cupcakes has a new flavor! 

Fleurir: is a small gourmet chocolate shop. Here there are a few samples and exotic flavors, which include chocolate chili and lavender. Definitely worth a try!

Dolcezza: this corner serves homemade gelato with differentiated flavors like thai coconut milk, cinnamon, and dark chocolate from the brand Valrhona.  The flavors are delicious and authentic.

Pie Sisters: also founded by sisters, this little bakery is made up of sweet and salty pies for serious pie lovers. I didn’t get to try the pies, but it made my mouth water just by looking at them. 

Where to visit:

Old Stone House: is the oldest house standing in Washington, where they preserved a furnished room so tourists can see how they used to live in the Colonial times. The entrance is free and there is a charming garden behind the building open to the public.

Georgetown Waterfront Park: Georgetown’s park is a great option for those who want to stroll, ride their bikes, and enjoy the beautiful view of the Potomac River.

Georgetown University: of course is the must see if you are in town. The campus is very charming and there is a beautiful chapel located on the south part of the University.
