Restaurants: Balade & Balaboosta

Written by , Posted in FOOD, TRAVEL

I recently visited two Mediterranean Middle Eastern restaurants. I am a huge fan of the mezze platter and other Mediterranean dishes, and for those who enjoy it as well, there are two places in New York that are worth visiting.

Balade is a more casual spot located in the East Village, where the food is delicious and the prices are fair. They make their own pita bread, in which the fillings can be chosen with your favorite ingredients. The space is small with wooden tables, rustic decoration, and dim lighting.

Known for the best falafel in NY, the owner of Taiim in the West Village, has opened the restaurant Balaboosta located in Nolita. The dishes are a mix of Mediterranean cookery with comfort homemade food. The ambiance is modern and refined. Some dishes worth trying are the organic chicken with Israeli couscous and the Kataiif shrimp.
